Business Operations Internship

Pathway to Full-Time

Alhamdulillah, what began as an honest effort out of an apartment has grown into a company serving thousands of households, with strong momentum and a mission that matters. We're building products that allow for more mindful worship throughout our busy days.

We're now looking for a Business Operations Intern who wants to gain serious, hands-on business experience, not theory, not busywork. You'll be working directly on the systems that keep our company running: finance, supply chain, and customer operations. This is a part-time role with a pathway to a full-time position after graduation if there's a strong fit, Insha'Allah.

What You'll Do

You'll take ownership of critical operations tasks that are central to how our company runs. This isn't busywork, this is real practice in managing and improving a growing business:

Supply Chain & Procurement

  • β€’ Based on lead times, production schedules, and cashflow, plan out when purchase orders (POs) need to be placed.
  • β€’ Evaluate shipping methods with suppliers, weighing speed vs. cost to meet deadlines responsibly.
  • β€’ Write supplier briefs with clear acceptance criteria, shipping addresses, and historical notes (e.g. past defects, delays).
  • β€’ Document supplier performance and maintain a record for future decision-making.

Production Planning

  • β€’ Coordinate with our assembler to ensure correct quantities are built, labeled, and shipped according to plan.
  • β€’ Anticipate holiday or logistical slowdowns (both domestic and overseas) and proactively adjust production timelines.
  • β€’ Verify that packaging, labeling, and shipment details align with compliance and branding requirements.
  • β€’ Conduct post-production reviews to document lessons learned and prevent repeat issues.

Financial Operations

  • β€’ Track cost of goods sold (COGS), marketing spend, and other operating expenses.
  • β€’ Generate monthly profit & loss (P&L) reports and dashboards that visualize what's affecting profitability.
  • β€’ Use financial insights to adjust production goals, marketing allocation, and purchasing timelines.
  • β€’ Maintain cashflow projections and update calendars accordingly to ensure liquidity for upcoming production runs.

Customer Operations

  • β€’ Respond to customer service emails with professionalism and empathy, learning best practices in communication and service recovery.
  • β€’ Compile and analyze customer feedback, feature requests, and return reasons to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • β€’ Prepare reports on customer demographics, preferences, and issues to inform product development and marketing.

Process Development

  • β€’ Treat every recurring task as a process to be standardized, documented, and continuously improved.
  • β€’ Create templates, checklists, and reporting formats for consistent execution across suppliers, assemblers, and internal use.
  • β€’ Develop tools (e.g. defect tracking sheets, purchasing calendars, supplier scorecards) that make processes repeatable and scalable.
  • β€’ Ensure all workflows are documented in a way that anyone could follow, even months later.

Who You Are

  • β€’ Reliable: You meet deadlines, communicate availability in advance, and stay proactive in managing schedules and tasks.
  • β€’ Sharp-minded: You pick things up quickly, think critically, and show initiative in figuring out solutions without needing step-by-step instructions.
  • β€’ Excellent communicator: You write clearly, summarize effectively, and document processes in a way that others can follow with ease.
  • β€’ Eager to grow: You see this as a chance to gain serious hands-on experience in business operations, finance, and strategy, not just "internship work."
  • β€’ Values-driven: You resonate with the mission of serving the ummah with ihsan and want your career to mean more than just profit.

What You'll Gain

  • β€’ Real business experience: You'll practice what MBA students study, but in a live environment where your work influences decisions in finance, supply chain, and growth strategy.
  • β€’ Mentorship and guidance: Direct learning from a founder who has scaled a faith-driven consumer hardware product to real market traction.
  • β€’ Pathway to full-time: For the right candidate, this role is the beginning of a long-term position in operations and strategy.
  • β€’ Impact: Your work will directly support a mission to help Muslims live with more mindful worship, every day.

Details

  • β€’ Location: Remote (required to be US-based).
  • β€’ Commitment: Flexible, part-time, minimum 10 hours per week.
  • β€’ Compensation: Stipend (to be discussed, paid either hourly or as a monthly retainer).
